Castaway Cay
Although this was our last full day on the ship, day 3 was my favorite day! Today was the day we pulled into Castaway Cay (pronounced Key), which is Disney's private island. Before leaving I had read some other reviews that said the island was amazing so I was excited. And if running is your thing, take your gear because they had a 5K on the island that morning.
Today we started the day with breakfast in Cabanas and was all prepared to get off the ship because we had already docked at 7:30 am. Before going to the island, we had a date with the princesses at 9:15 am to get pics and autographs. So between that and breakfast, we had a little time to kill so we went to a little show just for toddlers about Disney Junior. It was really cute and they sang all of the Disney songs from the shows, Goofy even made a surprise appearance!
*After Goofy appeared, Khloe disappeared from all photos. LOL!
As I stated earlier because the princesses and Frozen are so popular you do need to secure your tickets before you board and they will be delivered to your room the day before. It was really amazing to see the princesses because they have the mannerisms, poses, and they talk just like what you see in the movies. This was by far Amaya's favorite moment and the time they took to actually talk to the kids, sign their autographs and take the pictures was priceless!
*Rapunzel is her favorite princess, she was a little starstruck!
With key cards in hand for each of us, we were ready to get off the ship and enjoy our day. But first a quick pic with the Duck! He had the most personality by far of all the characters!
*Celeb sighting of Minnie and Goofy in their swim gear headed to the beach!
Our next stop was at the post office so we could mail some postcards. I had the girls mail one to their grandparents back home and I also mailed one to each of them so they would have them for their scrapbooks.

Next we took the tram to the beach. The tram made 3 stops with the first being for some excursions, the second being the beach, and the last being Serenity Bay which is the adult only section of the island. We got off on the second stop to just enjoy the beach although the island had so much more to offer. They had excursions, a water park like play area for the smaller kids, a water slide in the middle of the water that you had to swim to get to it and so much more that we didn't have time to explore. We enjoyed the water and did some swimming while my uncle and grandma went on the jet skis. Yep, my
grandma is a daredevil! Hahahaha! And later my niece and my Uncle also did the Stingray excursion. We went to Cookie's Barbecue to have lunch on the island. They had crew members from the ship make lunch right on the island so we didn't have to travel back on the ship to eat. For lunch that day we had barbecue *hence the name- Cookie's Barbecue* which was coleslaw, potato salad, burgers, spicy chicken, corn on the cob, ribs, rice and beans and cajun grilled chicken. For dessert they had banana bread, pineapple cake, chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream. I have also failed to note that soda is included at no extra charge on the ship. Most cruise lines will only give you water and lemonade for "free", but Disney includes Coke products, juices (apple, orange, grapefruit, etc.) and regular coffee which is a bonus!
After we got done with lunch we headed back to the beach because my oldest is basically a fish and she can never have enough of being in the water. My sister and I headed back to our lounge chairs and she took a nap in the hammock and Khloe and I napped in the lounge chair. The weather we had that day was perfect, it was about 85 degrees with a cool breeze all day. The water was also warm and so clear and beautiful! We even saw some fish that basically came right up to the shore. They looked almost clear like the water so I had no clue what type of fish they were, but they were obviously use to having people around. This was by far the most relaxing day we had and I wished we spent another day on the island.
After we got back on the ship we showered and got dressed again to get into more activities. My Mom and Grandma used this time to catch a nap while I took the girls to the movie theater to watch Finding Dory in 3D. In this theater they also basically have Disney movies being played all day for you to enjoy. Halfway through the movie Amaya decided she was hungry again so we went back upstairs to get food by the pool and watched some of Frozen since it was playing on the outdoor screen. And then we went back to finish up Finding Dory. Thankfully we had already seen the movie and we didn't have to pay for it so we just went with the flow.
Then we got dressed to go to the last show of the trip which was a show all about believing in magic. This show featured cameos by the Genie, Tinkerbell, The Lion King crew, Tiana, Mary Poppins, and many others. This was a really cute show and perfect for all ages, Khloe is almost 2 and she was alert and enjoyed all of the shows until she needed to nap at the very end of every one lol! After we got done with the show we went to get Minnie's autograph and my niece wanted to get Mickey's since she missed him the previous day.
*Sorry for the blurry photo here, Minnie just kept moving in her sparkly gown lol*
*And look who wasn't afraid anymore to get near the Mouse*
Then we headed to dinner which was at Animator's Palate that night. This dining room was my favorite and the decor was so cute. The seats all looked like Mickey Mouse and all of the other decor was all about painting and design. The best part of the entire dinner was the interactive screens they had around the room that featured Crush from Finding Nemo. Crush was able to actually "talk" to us as we ate dinner. When he came around to our section he actually picked out my uncle and asked, "Dude what's your name in the purple shirt?" And once my uncle gave his name he asked if he knew the other people at the table. And my uncle said yes, and just named the kids sitting at the table so he didn't have to name all of us. And Crush said, "Charles dude, I suggest you get to know those other people at your table." Hahahahahaha! He talked to us some more and then moved along to another section and had them chanting with him. He had another section doing the wave. It was just the neatest thing I have ever seen and I think I enjoyed that part more than the kids! I really wished I had gotten that on video but it was so spontaneous.
After dinner that night we actually went back to our room so we could get our bags together and out by the door before 10:30 so they could be checked and at the terminal once we got off. We were going go back out to enjoy more activities but we were all exhausted and headed to bed since we were heading to Magic Kingdom once we got off the next day.
Now our final few hours.....
