Nassau, Bahamas
After about 6ish hours of sleep, it was time to get up to start the day!
We woke up and got dressed and headed to the Enchanted Garden where we had dinner the previous night to eat breakfast. Again they had so many options...oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes, bacon, sausage, Mickey Mouse waffles, bagels, cereal, fruits, etc.
Wait, wait, wait I didn't tell you guys to make sure you download the Disney Cruise app before you leave so you can use it on the ship. You do have to pay for wi-fi if you want to use it on the ship, however, using the app with the wi-fi is free while on board. This is important because if you have other people traveling with you, you are able to use the app to text and it also has the list of activities for the day and a host of other helpful information.
Okay, now back to our regularly scheduled program...
On the second day we ported at Nassau and since we had all (minus the kids) visited Nassau before and we didn't book any excursions we just stayed on the ship. After we got done with breakfast, I grabbed the kiddos and we went to get a few more pictures and autographs with the characters. Almost every Disney character you can think of makes an appearance on the ship!!
There are some characters out and about on the ship but if you want the pics and autographs you have be there during those specific times and stand in line to get those. But no worries, they have different time
options each day for the various characters and once again the line moves fairly quickly. The girls were able to get about 15 autographs in their book throughout the trip which I was very happy with. One thing I will note is to make sure you check the activities section on the website when doing your online check in weeks before you sail. Since the Princesses (Cinderella, Belle, Rapunzel, and Snow White) and Anna and Elsa are really popular you do need to have a ticket to get their picture and autographs. There are still free but they do this to keep everything organized since they are really popular.
After we finished with the autographs we went back to the room to change into our swim gear to enjoy the pool. But right before the pool we went to a little presentation about the making of the Dream and it was rather interesting. They have about 1400 employees on the ship and they follow Bahamian laws as far as work goes and they get paid for a 70 hour work week and they have multiple jobs. Half of the day they may be a counselor in the Oceaneer's club and then they may be playing a character later that day in the show. It really made me open my eyes about how good your audition (yes, you have to audition to get hired) has to be in order to get hired because they work really long hours and through it all, they are always smiling and cheerful. He also told us that they generally work a few months straight and then they may get 1-2 months off.
Right before the pool we also stopped by the Oceaneer's Club since they were hosting an open house which is the only time parents are allowed inside. The inside was pretty cool! They have multiple rooms for the kids to enjoy, which include a little lab, a video game section, a Toy Story room and a Star Wars section. They also had these cool hand washing stations when you first enter that you just have to put your hands inside and the soap and water is mixed for you and sprayed on your hands. Can't lie, I was pretty amazed by that and would love one for my house. Hahaha! Here is the Toy Story themed room which the girls did not want to leave!
Okay, back to our day....our ship had two different pools and also a Finding Nemo area for the smaller kids and babies in swim diapers since the swim diapers are not allowed in the pools. We stayed in the pool most afternoon and my uncle and niece went on the Aqua Duck which is the water slide on the ship. The kids had a great time playing in the water while watching Wreck It Ralph on the big screen that basically plays Disney movies outside by the pool all day.
We ate lunch which was once again AMAZING and just relaxed more by the pool while the kids played. After lunch we went to stand in a couple lines to get more autographs and pictures with the characters before showering and getting ready for the show and dinner. The second show of the trip was all about the Disney Villians. This was by far my favorite show of all three and it had a lot of jokes in there that we for the adults. Of course nothing rated R, but just funny side jokes that the kids probably didn't understand.
After we left that show it was time to get ready for dinner and on night two it was pirate night. My sister made some cute little "nontraditional" pirate outfits for the girls and the cruise also provided everyone with some cute Mickey pirate bandanas.
Also before dinner they had a quick pirate show with all the Disney characters. I have to say, I really loved how the characters changed their "outfits"daily to match what was going on that day.
Night two we had dinner at the Royal Palace where they had the the cutest kids menus shaped like a pirate hat that the kids could actually wear. That night we let the girls go to the Oceaneer's club for a couple hours. They have counselors come to the entrance of the dining room at 9:15 pm where you can drop your kids off with them while you continue to enjoy your dinner. The club doesn't close until 1 am, but we picked them up after a couple hours or so to watch the fireworks.
After dinner we all headed to deck 11 to watch the fireworks show. But, before the fireworks they had another little show with some pirates, that included Jack Sparrow that lead right into the fireworks show. The show was really good and they had quite a bit of fireworks and the grand finale was bright enough to light up the entire sky. It was a real treat and the kids loved it! After the fireworks were over, they had a DJ and we had an outdoor deck dance party!!
That night we ended up in bed around 11:30ish and I was more than ready to get some sleep after a fun filled day!
Next up...Castaway Cay!

*Yep, I'm that mom that dressed both kids in something Disney every day. I bought shirts at Target, Children's Place, Kohls and JCPenny all on clearance weeks before we left!

*Sorry for the lighting, but that was actually how the room looked*
