Sailing with Mickey- Farewell

August 8, 2016- Day 4
Port Canaveral, FL

The final day, awwwww, it was bittersweet. While I wished we had one more day to just enjoy the ship, that would have been my limit. While cruising is fun and enjoyable, I don't think I want to spend more than 5 days at sea. Although none of us got seasick, the swaying of the boat does get to me after a couple days and of course I just miss my own shower and bed.

On the last day we woke up and got dressed and made sure we had everything packed and ready to go. They had us eat breakfast at different times based on what your seating was for dinner. Since we had second seating for dinner, we had breakfast at 8am that morning in the same room we had our last dinner (Animator's Palate). The guests who had first seating had breakfast before us so by the time we left our room it was a lot less crowded since those people had already eaten and could get off the ship. While all of the other breakfast meals were buffet style, for this last morning we had a menu and had our food brought to us by our regular server who treated us FABULOUS the entire trip.

The night before they gave us cute little character luggage tags to place on our checked luggage to make finding our bags much easier. Once we got ready to leave we were able to get off the ship in about 10 minutes. Once we got off we found our luggage tag section, which was Daisy, and found our bags. They had the same guys around that helped unload our luggage to load it up and take it to the car. Of course there were still a lot of people around but we were off the boat, had our bags, through customs, and was back at the car in about 30 mins. It was the quickest debarkation that I had every experienced.

After we got off the cruise, we went to Magic Kingdom to get one more day of Disney but I won't go into that trip now. Overall, our experience on the cruise was top notch!! Yes it is more expensive than your "regular" cruise, but it is worth every single penny, especially if you or your kids are Disney fans. Disney literally thinks of everything you could ever want or need. From being able to adjust the shower head to make it shorter for kids and having diaper genies in the public restrooms; to having all-terrain wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons available on the island so everyone is able to enjoy the beach. They.think.of.EVERYTHING!

Everything was absolutely amazing and I already can't wait to return in hopefully a couple years when Khloe is older. Although she did enjoy herself, I know she won't remember this trip and not to mention it will be much easier traveling without having to carry around a stroller, a diaper bag and working around a nap schedule. While the cruise is fun for those of all ages, I would honestly recommend waiting until your children are at least 3 or 4 years old to make it fun and easier for everyone. I would also recommend sailing at the very beginning or toward the end of the summer (or in the off season) to make it more economical. I can't remember the exact costs because my sister booked everything for us through a travel agency. But for Khloe (1 year old) it was between $500-700, for Amaya (age 6) it was between ($700-1000) and for myself I believe it was just around $1000. Yes, it is kind of pricey, but just think about a regular family vacation, especially a Disney vacation. You could spend close to this amount on a 4-5 day vacation easily once you factor in lodging, gas, entertainment for multiple days (simply going to the parks on multiple days can easily cost a family more than $1000 alone), eating out for every meal, etc. So actually for me I think this is better because everything is all in once place and the entertainment is already planned for you.

If you are even thinking about it slightly, just go! Trust me you won't regret it! Disney has a great reputation in general and I'm happy to report that this reputation continues at sea. Whether it's your 1st or 21st cruise, you have to experience a Disney cruise at least once in your life. Now, go and book your cruise and I hope this review was helpful in giving you more detail into what you are actually getting with the price of this cruise. Thanks for reading!!

  1. Sounds like y'all had a great time! We're thinking of heading to Disney and considered doing the cruise. Hoping to do it in the next two years. :o)
