DIY Infinity Scarf/Nursing Cover- NO SEW!

Hola Chicas!

You all know I love multipurpose items and I was so happy to come across a tutorial for an infinity scarf/nursing cover....fashion and function!! Yay! I initially saw this little find on an Etsy shop but they were selling for $20 and up (without shipping) and although they were very cute I just couldn't pay that. I nursed my four year old for almost a year and will nurse this baby when she arrives as well. I have a nursing cover that I used with her but I just love this idea and love that I can customize it to my liking. Also with my first baby I pumped more than I actually breastfeed because I had this odd idea in my head that it would be easier.....ummmmmm, yeah..........NO! Lol! So this time around I will be nursing more often and only pumping when I return back to work and when baby is not with me.

As usual, I searched around a few tutorials on blogs and on YouTube and came across quite a few and the directions were all quite simple so I headed out to the fabric store. I went to 3 different fabric stores in search of the best knit fabric at the best price. I got a yard of each of these for about $4 a yard, so around $12 for all three scarfs!

*Note: If you are a little taller (I'm only 5'2" on a good day lol) I would recommend getting a yard and a half or even two yards to make sure it's long enough.

I was going to pull out my sewing machine but decided to try it with my faithful no-sew iron on tape instead. This worked like a charm and I didn't even have to sew anything! Before binding the pieces together put the fabric ends together with the wrong side on the outside (hope that makes sense), so when turn it back to the right (pattern) side it's nice and neat :).

Here are the finished scarfs and I really love all of them.

*Sorry about the quality of the pictures, hubby doesn't get home from work until late and it was now or never. Lol!

The flower pattern fabric I got from Hobby Lobby and it is a little thicker than the other two I got from Hancock Fabrics. Because it's knit, I can stretch it some without any problems. Knit fabric is great to work with because it just curls on itself and doesn't fray on the ends.

What I really love about this is that even if you don't have a baby and you are not nursing, this scarf is great for every day wear for anyone! Infinity scarfs are very popular right now and sometimes can be pretty pricey so making your own takes a little effort, but saves you lots of money if you wear them a lot.

Hancock Fabrics had so many knit options that I had to control myself. But I'm sure I will be making a solid black and brown one that can be paired with anything and maybe get a couple more patterns. Please share pics if you try it!!
