I have been putting off this tutorial for weeks now and finally told myself I had to get it done now! So here goes.......
It seemed really easy to put on and was exactly what I was looking for. Thing is, it costs $50 and I knew this wasn't something I was going to use long term so I didn't want to spend that and I don't like putting items on my baby registry that I wouldn't actually buy myself.
So, being the frugal momma that I am I headed to Google to find tutorials on how to make my own and found plenty. Here is one that I found most helpful and straight to the point, No-Sew Baby Wrap..
So first things first, I went to Hobby Lobby to pick up my t-shirts. Now the K'Tan wrap comes in different sizes so I knew I couldn't just pick up any size. After watching one of the tutorial videos she recommended to go one shirt size up that what you would normally wear so I got three large black t-shirts (I'm usually a medium). You can make this wrap in any color that you prefer but I wanted the black K'tan wrap so I just stuck with black t-shirts.
*Tip: If trying this project, make sure to use t-shirts that have no seams on the sides.

The shirts were $3.99 each, but they were 30% off, so I got all three t-shirts for a little more than $8.
To start cut all three shirts across from armpit to armpit.
Two of the shirts will be used to make the actual wrap and the third shirt will be used just to wrap around to secure the bottom (see finished pic below).
This next step is completely optional and I just used it to give it a more finished look on the blunt end that I cut.
Sorry, I forgot to take a picture but just use the heat n bond on the blunt end of the two shirts that will be the wrap.
Next, take the two shirts and place one inside of the other so it looks like one shirt.
Then cut a small strip from the leftover fabric from one of the t-shirts.
Bunch the two shirts together and use the piece of fabric from above to make a knot to secure the two pieces together. I wrapped this piece of fabric around the two shirts about 3 times and make a secure knot but made sure it wasn't too tight that I'm not able to move it up and down a little to adjust for comfort.
Your end result will look like this, sort of like a butterfly :).
With your third shirt cut it diagonally but only through one side of the shirt.
That's it!! Now try it out!
Obviously I'm still pregnant so Violet stepped in to play the role of baby Khloe lol! It came out great and I can't wait to try it once she gets here.
Last pic courtesy of Amaya lol!
I wasn't into "baby carrying" with Amaya but I figured it would be helpful this time around when out and about with both kiddos by myself to have my hands mostly free. And it will also probably be helpful when breastfeeding in public since you can position the baby many different ways in the carrier.
Please let me know if you have any questions! This is such an easy project to try if you have a little one, are expecting, or want to make one for a friend or family member. You don't even have to buy new t-shirts, steal three of you hubby shirts and don't tell him lol!
