DIY Body Scrubs

Tis' the season when most of our skin gets very, very dry and when scrubs can come in handy.  Body scrubs help to remove dead skin, create glowing skin, and helps your skin to absorb your moisturizer better.  Here are some scrubs that you can make with things you probably already have at home!

Body & Facial Scrub
When the bananas are starting to brown, grab those beauties and put them to use.  Bananas are loaded with vitamins and help to restore lost moisture and repair dry, damaged, and dull skin.

Ingredients:
  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract or your favorite essential oil (optional)
Smash ingredients together with a fork into a chunky goop. Don't over-mash or it will become too thin. If you want a banana scrub for your face, reserve some of the banana and mash it separately without sugar. In the shower, pat the sugar mixture and gently massage over your body. For your face, gently massage plain banana there, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with warm water.

Lip Scrub
Dry lips????  Are they peeling and cracking??? Try this!

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 tsp. Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar (I use white or brown)
  • 1 tsp. Honey
Mix ingredients together and apply scrub to lips rubbing in a circular motion, then rinse and apply your favorite lipstick or lip gloss :).  *I use this on myself about once every 2 weeks and on my daughter about once a month.*

Hand Scrub
Are your hands feeling a little dry and brittle?  Try this scrub and lock in the moisture with your favorite hand cream!

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup White sugar
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil
  • 15-20 drops (or more) of lemon or orange essential oil (optional).

Mix all ingredients together and use after washing dishes to prevent dry hands!

Feet Scrub
After giving your feet a nice soak, follow it up with this amazing scrub.  The coconut oil in it is perfect for keeping your feet nice and soft.

Ingredients:

  • ½ C Raw Sugar
  • ½ C Epsom Salt
  • ½ C Coconut Oil
  • 10-15 Drops Essential Oil (optional)
Mix all the ingredients together and store in a container. The coconut oil may harden. If it does you may need a spoon to get the mix out. It quickly melts in your hand though when you work it over your feet. I love using this because I don’t need to use a foot cream afterwards. It leaves your feet feeling amazing!

You don't have to buy those fancy scrubs to give your skin some TLC, use what you already have in your kitchen!  Enjoy!
